At this time of year, the kids get so excited that the word "Pumped" is an understatement when we mention "The Hunters Are Back." Getting to go to The Lodge makes them giddy like as if it was Christmas Eve....It is an adrenaline rush that I pray they will never lose.
Relaxing around the table with friends and family as the story begins with a Cop, a Priest and a Rocket Scientist!

With Major Surgery Complete, Rocket Scientist Is Off To Telling Jokes

Do you know the difference between a friend and a hunting buddy? A friend starts a hunting story with, “Man, you ain’t never gonna believe this!” While a hunting buddy starts a hunting story with, “Hey, remember that time when we…?” The photo below is of a Cop and a Rocket Scientist that are both friends and hunting buddies.

It appeared that these hunting buddies didn't seem to mind if they hunted on a high fenced, low fenced, no fenced, 5,000 acre, 5 acre, 8 hour drive, 2 hour drive, hot weather, cold weather, snowy windy weather or even if they had to hunt in the backyard of The Lodge. In my opinion, with Father Tony and Father Joe being present at The Lodge, it was treated like sacred ground. It is just one place in this world that you can go....to get away from the world.
From the time the Hunters arrive, the campfires are a huge focal point for our family. At this moment, I would like you to imagine that you are here with us this evening at our campfire. You soon will be approaching The Lodge. As you enter the scene, you immediately begin to smell the smoke lingering in the crisp air. After visiting for awhile, your body is beginning to feel chilled. You move closer to the crackling hot fire for warmth.

Around the campfire, you will hear the laughter of the Hunters....Family as they are telling jokes, sharing good memories of the past, while making new memories at that very same moment that last a lifetime.
Take a peak at the sky. You will see a bright full moon looking down at you as the soft fluffy clouds slowly drift by.

Please note that the photo above was taken from one of my favorite sites The Pioneer Woman and it is identical to what the full moon looked like on the evening of November 13th. I tried photographing the moon with all those marshmallow looking clouds drifting by for all of you to see but I was not pleased with the results. I needed this Photography Lesson by Ivory Hut that was published the next morning on November 14th.

With another Hunting Season put down in history, I want to Thank You for being with us....as The Lodge is a special place for a great family getaway.

Thanks for the memories, and the memories yet to come...
Hello Jack - Thanks for playing spoons and going sledding with us. We hope to see you this summer. Justin - Kimberly - McKayla
Awesome post, Deb - I'm not even sure what to say. You just summed up the whole meaning of family and friends. We do the hand-squeeze thing, too, and I never thought of it as tradition -- but I guess it is!
Great posting Deb. We always hear about "the hunters" but it has been years since we have been there to enjoy the campfire with everyone. Let us know next year when they are coming so we can join you on the weekend. Kaitlyn mentioned she would like to taste some wild game. Shirley
